Kanhaiya Kumar is  conductor of  All India Student Federation (AISF), the scholar wing of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Kanhaiya Kumar was elected leader of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union in 2015. In February 2016, Kanhaiya Kumar was jailed and charged with uprising on the charges of powering against-India slogans in a student rally against the 2013 hanging case of Mohammed Afzal Guru, a Kashmiri protester convicted over the 2001 Indian Parliament attack.[1] He was released on bail at 2 March 2016, since no proof of Kumar participating in against-national slogans has been showed by the police. In parallel, a corrective committee built in by JNU Vice-Chancellor have also inspected the fire-eating and showed the report. Final result is awaited from the JNU administration.

On 8 March 2016, talking at an International Women’s Day event,Kanhaiya Kumar related to the raping of Kashmir women by personnal safety, which has been critiqued as being “agains-national” by critics. “No matter how much you try to stop us, we will shout up against human rights violations. We will lift up our voice against AFSPA. While we have a very much admiration for our soldiers, we will still speak about the issue that in Kashmir women are raped by security,” KANHAIYA Kumar is reported to have said. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (the BJP’s youth wing)  complaint in a Delhi police station against Kanhaiya Kumar & professor Nivedita Menon, alleging that they made “against-national” statements. Mayank Tiwari,  BJP worker in Bihar, clog up sedition and defamation case against Kanhaiya Kumar in a civil court in Patna.
